A Weekend Getaway to Florida: Celebrating Ayanna's Birthday in Style

Last December, my friend Ayanna and I embarked on a weekend getaway to Florida to celebrate her birthday in style and also so I could get a break from "my life" --as I had lost a close friend two months prior and my brother was in the hospital in a coma. Of course the trip started off very rocky in true Kayon and Ayanna fashion lol (I'll tell you more about that in our mini vlog), with me getting to Florida only to find out Ayanna was still in Guyana...yikes!😬 This was my first time in Florida and that was some scary shiii! tune in to my YouTube channel for the full video with highlights on how our trip went!

So after being in Fort Lauderdale for an entire night all by my lonesome self at the AirBnb , Ayanna finally arrived and boy was I glad to see her! we ran towards each other, hugged and created a scene in Target where I was waiting for her, after all, it had been a year since we had seen each other. Our adventures took us to different malls in Fort Lauderdale and Christmas Wonderland in Miami, where we created unforgettable memories and enjoyed some much-needed relaxation and enjoyment.

Our first stop was Sawgrass Mills, Florida's largest outlet and retail shopping destination. We spent hours exploring the endless shops and scoring some amazing deals on everything from fashion to home decor, afterall, Ayanna's mom did give her an entire list while i only went to shop for my kids and my husband.
Ayanna's eyes lit up as she found the perfect birthday outfit in Burlington so we could sweater match for our trip to Miami while we treated ourselves to some well-deserved retail therapy.

After our shopping spree, we headed to Christmas Wonderland in Miami, a magical holiday event  to celebrate ayanna's birthday as our plan to dine at the cake factory was blown out the door after spending all our time shopping.  Christmas Wonderland brought out the inner child in both of us as we marveled at the dazzling lights, rode the festive rides, and indulged in some delicious treats. The atmosphere was infectious, and we found ourselves fully immersed in the holiday spirit.

One of the most memorable moments of our trip was when Ayanna and I went to chick-fil-A and we sat in the car and ate not one, but two sandwiches--each!, just in an attempt to 'try' a menu item we hadn't had before. we laughed and caught up on what each of us had missed out on, all while being in another country simply enjoying each other's company and reflecting on the beauty of life's simple pleasures.

As the weekend came to a close, we realized that our trip to Florida was about more than just celebrating her birthday or taking a mental break; it was about cherishing the moments we shared together and creating lasting memories. Ayanna's birthday weekend was a reminder of the importance of friendship, laughter, and the joy of exploring new places.

Overall, our weekend getaway to Florida was nothing short of magical. From shopping at Sawgrass Mills to experiencing the enchantment of Christmas Wonderland, every moment was filled with love, laughter, and the spirit of adventure. 

Ayanna's birthday celebration emphasized the importance of cherishing the special moments in life and to always make time for the ones we love.
